Teaching Resource: 37 Persuasive Topic Cards
These 37 Persuasive Topic Cards serve as a useful prompt for persuasive speaking and persuasive writing.
Each topic card is A4 in size (but you can reduce to fit many to one page if you prefer) and contains a persuasive topic and a stimulus picture.
Some topics include:
Animals should not be kept in cages.
We should go to school on Saturdays.
Classrooms should all be air-conditioned.
Children should not be allowed to buy energy drinks.
Computer games are bad for children.
Teachers should be paid more money.
Teaching Tip: Pick a topic a day to discuss with your class. Talk about the generic structure of the persuasive argument and how you would plan to write or talk about each topic. Alternatively, print at 4-to-a-page and use as prompt cards in your writing rotations.
